About
Jordan M. Rood, Psy.D.
Licensed Clinical Psychologist · 10+ Years in Practice · PSYPACT Provider · Telehealth-Based Since 2020
My Story
A steady presence for anxiety and OCD
I'm Dr. Jordan Rood, a licensed clinical psychologist providing individual psychotherapy primarily by telehealth. My practice has been telehealth-based since March 2020, which has given me years to refine how structured, evidence-based treatment — including active exposure work — translates effectively to a virtual setting. In-person sessions may also be available when clinically appropriate.
Most of my clinical work centers on panic disorder, generalized anxiety and other anxiety disorders, and OCD-spectrum conditions. I've also developed a niche subspecialty in treating paruresis (shy bladder syndrome), using Exposure and Response Prevention adapted specifically for telehealth delivery.
Alongside this, I support clients working through depression, communication difficulties, family discord, boundaries and assertiveness, motivation, and life transitions — often as part of longer-term, continuity-based care rather than short-term, symptom-only intervention.
My Path to This Work
Why anxiety, OCD, and paruresis
My specialization in anxiety and OCD-spectrum treatment took root during a practicum placement at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center's child and adolescent OCD intensive outpatient program. That experience gave me a grounding in ERP that I've continued to build on and refine throughout my career since.
My focus on paruresis (shy bladder syndrome) developed later, through direct clinical work and experience with the condition. I combined the foundations of ERP with frameworks drawn from the social anxiety and phobia literature, along with ongoing discussion with organizations focused specifically on paruresis, to shape an approach adapted for telehealth.

How I think about treatment
Active, Not Just Talked-About
Exposure work happens in-session — not just as homework you're sent away to do alone. I've adapted active ERP techniques specifically for the telehealth format.
Measured, Not Assumed
Progress isn't a guess — I track it with validated symptom scales at intervals and review the trend with you.
Long-Term by Design
Many of my client relationships span multiple years. I intentionally keep my weekly schedule small, so I can give the clients I already work with the time, attention, and consistency that meaningful long-term care requires.
A Solo Practice, By Design
A solo practice by design — when you call or text (239) 350-3636, you reach me directly, not a phone tree.
