Questions, answered

Common questions about telehealth, treatment methods, and getting started — plus trusted outside resources.

Yes. Research consistently shows telehealth psychotherapy, including CBT and ERP, can be as effective as in-person care for many conditions. I've spent years since 2020 refining how to deliver active, in-session exposure work specifically within a virtual format — not simply adapting in-person methods without change.

My practice is primarily telehealth-based, but in-person sessions can be an option when clinically appropriate. This isn't something you need to decide upfront — it can be raised and discussed at any point throughout treatment if it would be helpful for you.

PSYPACT (Psychology Interjurisdictional Compact) is an agreement between participating states that allows licensed psychologists to legally provide telehealth services to clients located in other member states. I hold dual licensure in Pennsylvania and Florida, and as a PSYPACT-authorized provider, I may also be able to see clients physically located in any of the 40+ other PSYPACT-participating states.

See the current PSYPACT map to check your state's status, since participation can change. If you're located outside PA or FL, please confirm through the client portal before booking.

Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) is the leading evidence-based treatment for OCD-spectrum disorders. It involves gradually and deliberately facing feared thoughts, situations, or sensations while resisting the urge to perform compulsions or avoidance behaviors. Over telehealth, exposures are conducted actively during your live session — not just assigned as take-home tasks — using techniques adapted specifically for a virtual setting.

Paruresis, sometimes called "shy bladder syndrome," is a fear-based inability to urinate in public or social restrooms, related to social anxiety and OCD-spectrum presentations. It responds well to ERP. Telehealth is often well-suited to this particular condition — it allows for graded exposure planning and support in real-world settings without needing to bring a therapist physically into a public restroom.

Mindset Psychological Care is a self-pay, out-of-network practice. A superbill can be provided for you to submit to your insurer for possible partial reimbursement, if your plan includes out-of-network mental health benefits. See the Fees page for details.

I intentionally limit my practice to 10–15 clients a week so each person gets my full attention and a truly personalized approach. My rates reflect that: smaller caseload, more time and care invested in each client. See the Fees page for details.

At intervals throughout treatment, you'll complete brief, validated symptom questionnaires — such as the PHQ-9 (depression), GAD-7 (generalized anxiety), Y-BOCS (OCD severity), or DASS-21 (depression, anxiety, and stress). I review your scores with you, often visually as a trend over time, to see what's improving and where I may need to adjust the treatment plan.

It depends on your goals. Some clients complete a focused, protocol-based course of ERP or CBT over a number of months. Many others choose an ongoing, continuity-based relationship that spans years, particularly when working through recurring anxiety, OCD-spectrum symptoms, or longer-term life adjustment. I'll discuss what makes sense for you directly.
